Create an asset for our community

The Opportunity
The stretch of Formosa Street between Warrington Crescent and Castellain Road offers a unique opportunity to create a safe and sociable space for members of our community to enjoy. At present this enjoyment is inhibited by traffic passing through the narrow street and parked in it. Such traffic can easily be re-routed around Warrington Gardens and alternative visitor parking could be made available on Castellain Road and Warrington Crescent.
Future Design Concept
A space for people, not cars
The ultimate future design concept would eliminate all vehicles (including bikes and scooters) from the short stretch of Formosa Street between Warrington Crescent and Castellain Road. The existing road surface would be paved to the same level as the footway and trees planted to give shade and shelter. Benches would be provided to encourage community interaction and the tables of cafes and restaurants could, subject to planning consent, be allowed to spread a little further into the street.

The aim would be to create a space for the people of the community to enjoy, to interact and to simply spend time. This short stretch of street would be reclaimed for use by people, not cars.

This concept could be achieved in a number of phases as budget and other constraints are resolved.
